Hispanic Theatre in New York

The Thalia Spanish Theatre in New York has received one of the 2009 Mayor’s Awards for Arts and Culture. The Thalia Theatre has promoted theatre and performing arts in Spanish language since 1977. During 32 years of activity it has stablished itself as an essential cultural center in Queens, NYC, offering a bilingual cultural program for Spanish-speaking artists and audiences from the ever-growing hispanic population of the city.

Spanish theatre director and producer Ángel Gil Orrios, who has been in charge of the Thalia for the last nine years, received the Award from Mayor Bloomberg: For its extraordinary service as New York City’s first and only bilingual Hispanic theatre company in Queens, serving one of the most diverse communities in the United States.  www.thaliatheatre.org
